A Look Back at 2019

What a year 2019 has been! Now that things have come to a close, I'd like to dissect some of this year's best and worst trades, show my work estimating my final ROC, explore room for improvement, as well as set goals for next year. Before we dive into all that, however, let's first talk about this year's general market activity!

The Giant Bully

To say 2019 was a
is an understatement. Up around 30% from Jan 1 with only a few tiny blips of uncertainty, this year's market was a freakin' demon-taurus with platinum daggers as horns and rockets for legs. The move has been incredible, especially considering the chaos that closed out 2018. As a result, finding opportunity to sell
became difficult for long stretches of time. If you didn't strike immediately during the brief periods of
you were likely to miss out on a good opportunity for weeks. The unbelievable size of this year's rally combined with long stretches of low volatility made 2019 a major challenge for option selling. I personally struggled to find worthwhile risks. Staying small, staying patient, and staying
however, kept me out of trouble and helped me capitalize on the few opportunities I could find. In the end, I did pretty well. Let's take a look at some of my best winners first!
